Important Safety Note on 2 Tire Winter Installations
Automotive safety organizations recommend installing winter tires on all four wheels for optimal handling and safety. Installing winter tires only on the drive axle creates a handling imbalance the winter equipped axle grips while the all season equipped axle slides creating unpredictable handling in emergency maneuvers.
If budget requires starting with 2 tires: Install them on the rear axle regardless of whether your vehicle is front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. Rear grip loss causes vehicle spin more dangerous than front grip loss. Plan to add the front pair as soon as possible.
