What Makes a Big Whitewall Tire Different
Two things separate a good large whitewall from a bad one: how the white is made, and how short the sidewall is.
True whitewall versus painted. A true whitewall is genuine white rubber bonded into the tire during manufacturing. A painted whitewall is a coating applied to a black tire, and it can crack, peel, and yellow. Removable inserts and decals also exist, but they’re a cosmetic add on, not part of the tire. Every tire in our custom whitewall tire collection uses genuine white rubber.
Vulcanized whitewall. Select sizes, including our 245/30R22, are vulcanized: the white compound is bonded into the tire as it cures. That matters most on large wheels, where the low sidewall flexes the most.
How to Read a Big Wheel Tire Size
Take 275/25R26. The 275 is the tire width in millimeters. The 25 means the sidewall is 25% as tall as the tire is wide. The R means radial, and the 26 is the wheel diameter in inches. That puts the sidewall at about 2.7 inches, for an overall diameter of roughly 31.4 inches.
Approximate overall diameters for the sizes we build:
- 22 inch: 245/30R22 is about 27.8 inches. 265/35R22 is about 29.3 inches.
- 24 inch: 275/25R24 is about 29.4 inches. 255/30R24 is about 30.0 inches. 275/30R24 is about 30.5 inches.
- 26 inch: 275/25R26 is about 31.4 inches. 275/30R26 is about 32.5 inches. 295/30R26 is about 33.0 inches. 315/30R26 is about 33.4 inches.

Standard tire makers don’t make these with a whitewall, so they only exist through small-batch American production.
